‘The picket lines are calling’: Malema ‘plans’ HUGE National Shutdown
South Africans are fed up with load shedding and it looks like Julius Malema is also planning a huge National Shutdown.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says picket lines are calling their names as South Africans are threatening a National Shutdown in reaction to the latest 18.65% tariff hike granted to Eskom.
South Africans are already battling with a high cost of living, high petrol prices, and load shedding, and to top it all off, from 1 April 2023, they will have to pay more for non-existent electricity.
IS MALEMA PLANNING A NATIONAL SHUTDOWN?
The EFF leader took to Twitter to say that South Africans should remove the ruling party from power. Before that even happens, President Cyril Ramaphosa must fall immediately.
“The picket lines are calling our names. We can’t allow them to turn us into a nation of cowards; everything has collapsed under Ramaphosa, and we look like a helpless nation,” he said.

The party is well known for organising pickets and protests to various government departments, companies and schools protesting against many social issues South Africans are subjected to on a daily basis.

MZANSI FED UP WITH ESKOM
A Facebook group called March on Eskom gained close to 10 000 followers within the short time it was created.
South Africans of all races and ages are planning to march against load shedding and exacerbating electricity prices.
In the group, members have complained that their electricity bills have gone up instead of going down since there is no power.
Twitter has also been abuzz following the announcement of the tariff hike. #NationalShutdown has been trending for days now with South Africans expressing how fed up they are and how geared up they are for a picket to Eskom.
“Food is extremely expensive, no jobs, load shedding at it peak, crime, EVERYTHING is falling apart! We need to save us. #NationalShutdown,” @YAYARSA tweeted.
“We need the same Fees Must Fall energy for this loading National Shutdown. The same Zuma must fall energy and unity,” @LuSomethings also tweeted.
The last National Shutdown that was planned didn’t exactly go according to plan but judging from the momentum and public figures vowing to take part in the upcoming one (even though dates are not yet clear) one can be hopeful that South Africans are not only keyboard warriors as many have claimed.
