Malema leads EFF to Rupert’s business empire

The Red Berets supporters made their way to Rupert’s Stellenbosch-based business. They demanded that the business tycoon commits to measures that will eventually speed the redistribution of land up.

Malema led a group of EFF supporters to Remgro Limited’s gates. Remgro Limited is Rupert’s business empire, reports EWN. Speaking to supporters outside Rupert’s business, Malema shared that over 300 years ago, the land was taken.

He also spoke about wanting to know how many properties are owned by the Rupert family. Adding that the Red Berets need to know how the land was acquired in the first place.

“More than 300 years ago they arrived here and they took our land. The land is to be expropriated without compensation, so we are here for that principle,”

Malema’s party is also looking to acquire independently audited reports of Rupert’s tax records. Secretary-general for the EFF Marshall Dlamini shared that they want Rupert to reveal the working, living and remuneration conditions of employees on the family’s farms.

The party handed over its memorandum of demands to Remgro Limited representative Monica Hickman on Wednesday, 6 April.
