EFF ward councillor gunned down in North West

The EFF has called on law enforcement agencies to find alleged murderers of its ward councillor, Tsietsi Mohulatsi who was gunned down.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has called on law enforcement agencies to apprehend  those responsible for the murder of its ward councillor Tsietsi Mohulatsi in the North West. 

The 58-year-old was allegedly shot dead in his car in Rustenburg, North West on Tuesday, 4 October. 

EFF COUNCILLOR GUNNED DOWN 

The party said the killing of Mohulatsi comes amidst rising violent crimes in the country and a trend of political intolerance that has seen violence prevail over peaceful means of resolving differences. 

“We call on all relevant law enforcement agencies to act speedily in bringing the perpetrators of such a cruel murder to justice. Furthermore, we call on all members of the community  to help with any information that may lead to the apprehension of the killers of fighter Tsietsi.”

The party further called on society to unite and defend itself against brutal, inhumane and criminal violence. 

SAPS LAUNCHES MANHUNT 

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched a manhunt after a 58-year-old ward councillor, Tsietsi Mohulatsi, was allegedly shot dead by unknown suspect/s. 

Spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said Mohulatsi’s lifeless body was found inside his white Nissan Navara bakkie at Freedom Park informal settlement between Extension 4 and 5 outside Phokeng in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 04 October 2022, with what appeared to be gunshot wounds on his upper body.

Mokgwabone said the victim’s body was spotted by passers-by who reported the incident to the police. 

“The motive of the incident is yet to be determined and investigations are still underway. No arrests have been effected at this stage.”
