The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has opened a case of assault and sexual assault against National Assembly Speaker, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula after its members were kicked out of Parliament on Friday.

EFF MPs including spokesperson Sinawo Thambo and Naledi Chirwa were manhandled by Parliament Protection Services after they were asked by the Speaker to leave if they did not want to be addressed by Ramaphosa.

EFF OPENS CASE AGAINST PARLIAMENT SPEAKER

The EFF did not want to let Ramaphosa deliver his speech on the Presidency’s Budget Vote for 2022. Those present in the chambers routinely raised points or order, before hurling insults towards the head of state and interrupting others.

The altercations pushed the start time of the president’s speech back, and the House Speaker struggled to regain control on Thursday. Resorting to drastic measures, security was called in to remove the EFF members from their seats in Parliament.

The Red Berets said they will pursue private prosecution against the Speaker and Parliament Protection Services and alleged that nothing has been done by police regarding the cases they have opened in the past.

“Under Mapisa-Nqakula’s instructions, a woman was assaulted physically and sexually on Thursday, 9 June 2022 for daring to refuse that President Cyril Ramaphosa address the nation and Parliament.

“The Members of Parliament who were subjected to Mapisa Nqakula’s tyranny in service of Ramaphosa, have opened a case of assault with grievous bodily harm and sexual assault against Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and Parliament Protection Services.”

Furthermore, the EFF said they will use every chance it gets to make sure that Ramaphosa answers to the grave accusations of money laundering against him.

Former State Security Agency Director-General, Arthur Fraser opened a criminal case against the President after it was alleged that thieves broke into his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo and discovered around $4 million which was allegedly tucked away at the farm. Ramaphosa said the money was proceeds from ‘game transactions’.

The party said money laundering erodes the country’s fiscus and is defined by criminality, tax evasion and illicit financial flow of funds.
