Cape Medical Response (CMR) late on Monday responded to a call after a kitesurfer sustained a leg injury at Misty Cliffs Beach, close to the Crayfish Factory.

According to the Arrive Alive website, paramedics and an ambulance were dispatched to assist.

The NSRI was also called out and a Stokes basket was needed to help carry the patient to safety.

On arrival, it was determined that a 24-year-old Dutch tourist had sustained a leg fracture and was treated and stabilised on the beach before being secured in a Stokes basket.

With the help of NSRI, he was then carried up the embankment along the pathway to a CMR Ambulance waiting on the road where the patient was then transported, in a stable condition, to hospital.
