Two men were shot and killed in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday morning, 20 December. The incident took place at the intersection of Stanger and Argyle Roads near the Central Business District.

TOW TRUCK DRIVER AND ANOTHER MAN KILLED IN A SUSPECTED DURBAN HIT

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said the two men in their forties were found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and in a state of cardiac arrest at approximately 11:00.

“Resuscitation efforts were attempted on both men, however, were unsuccessful and the men were declared dead on the scene.

“The motive for the shooting is unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation,” said van Reenen.

According to reports, one of the victims is a tow truck driver for a well-established company in the area.

The tow truck driver was speaking with the other victim – who was parked behind him – when unknown assailants opened fire on them with high-calibre rifles, said South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker to TimesLive. The suspects reportedly fled the scene on foot.

“The police are investigating a double murder. At this stage, we cannot confirm it but we suspect it was a hit, considering the way it was carried out. Detectives have arrived and will be speaking to witnesses to see if we can get video footage,” said Naicker.
