A robbery at a Durban shop turned out to be from the same suspect trying for the second within very few days. The man was arrested by local police on Friday.

According to the report, the 30-year-old man had previously robbed the clothing store in Hill street before testing his luck again for a second shot.

Though the robbery was attempted by two suspects, it was not to be a challenge for one of them to be identified as a familiar face, especially in identical circumstances.

It is said the suspect returned on Monday shortly before the evening to allegedly operate another robbery but was recognised by one of the stores’ employees.

“It is further alleged they threatened the security guard with knives. At knifepoint they stole clothes before fleeing on foot,” said South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said via IOL.

“The suspect was identified by an employee and they immediately contacted police.”

Witnesses at the scene of the incident were not mere bystanders, they got into the action by helping to nab the suspect.

“Members of the public who were at the scene assisted in apprehending the suspect and handed (the suspect) over to police,” Gwala concluded.

The SAPS captain added to confirm the obvious in this matter. He said that the police will go on to begin a quick check if the same is connected to any other robberies in the Durban area.

“The suspect will be profiled to check if he is linked to other robberies committed in the Pinetown CBD and surrounding areas,” Gwala added.

“He is expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.”

In other recent bizarre events in KwaZulu Natal, a man has been sentenced since his raping of a woman in her home before asking her for a juice drink.

As established by the South African Police Service (SAPS), the 44–year-old offender, Mzunkunzi Nkala, attacked his 40-year-old victim after a forced entry into her Mabhalonini house.

Nkala proceeded to outpower the woman, rape her before he relaxed himself to ask for a juice drink. “She got the opportunity to escape while the man was relaxed and drinking the juice. She went to a nearby house where she screamed for her neighbour,” SAPS Colonel Thembeka Mbele said.
