CHAOS: DURBAN N2 HIGHWAY CLOSED AT QUEEN NANDI DRIVE

According to the ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the disaster struck in the wee hours of Tuesday not far from Queen Nandi Drive.

Jamieson initially suspected the truck was carrying petrol before it was later discovered paraffin was in its large tank.

It has been stated that the truck collided with a motorbike and another vehicle that was on the Durban N2 highway.

“A truck believed to be carrying petrol had lost control and overturned before crossing over the centre median and colliding with a biker and another vehicle,” said Jamieson as quoted by TimesLIVE.

“The biker sustained critical injuries and was stabilised on the scene by paramedics before being rushed to a nearby Durban hospital for further treatment.

“The freeway is currently still closed in both directions for the recovery of the wreckage.

“At this stage the events leading up to the accident are unknown, however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.

ACCIDENT INJURIES CONFIRMED

As confirmed by the paramedic spokesperson, the truck driver emerged unscathed, but the same can’t be said about the man that was behind the motorbike wheel.

“The biker sustained critical injuries and was stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being rushed through to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that he required,” Jamieson added.
