DStv Premium subscribers now get Showmax streaming service for free
Showmax? Maybe you’ve always wanted to get it but weren’t keen on paying that monthly fee. If you’re a DStv Premium, subscriber then you’re in luck.
Well, it seems that today is a good day to be a DStv Premium subscriber! Subscribers of MultiChoice’s premium package can now have their Showmax bundled together with their packages, for free.
Some sharp eyed subscribers noticed the change when they saw the following message when the logged onto DStv Now: Showmax is now included in your DStv Premium subscription.
While no other changes were listed, Showmax normally costs R99 per month so this latest shift is indeed a huge long term save for Premium Subscribers.
MultiChoice explained the change to MyBroadband.
“DStv Premium customers will be able to access Showmax via the DStv Now app, as well as their PC, laptop, mobile device, media player, or smart TV,” said MultiChoice. Showmax is also available on DStv Explora decoders.
A Showmax subscription gives customers access to two concurrent streams on different devices. With Showmax, they can also choose to download up to 25 movies and tv shows to their smartphone or tablet.
This shift towards “free for premium” comes after Naspers merged DStv Digita Media with Showmax Africa. MyBroadband reports that this new division has not been named, but will be overseen by Mark Rayner, the MultiChoice CEO , until a division head can be found.
Showmax and MultiChoice have said that they have been looking at having DStv working together with Showmax on digital entertainment.
