Dr George Koboka was shot dead in his surgery in Diepkloof. CCTV footage has emerged showing moments before the incident.
CCTV footage from the day Diepkloof’s beloved Dr George Koboka was shot dead in his surgery has emerged.
Koboka was shot in the head and chest by unknown gunmen at his surgery in Diepkloof, Soweto on Friday 25 March 2022.
In the video, a group of gunmen can be seen entering the surgery. One goes straight to Dr Koboka’s office and waits by the door while the others walk past the patients following him.
As he walks towards Koboka’s office, he can be seen reaching out for something under his shirt. Two others follow him to the office; one enters and another guards the door.
As he enters the office he can be seen cocking a gun and patients are uneasy and panic at this moment as they start hiding their phones and want to run away. They eventually do and one even hides under the receptionists’ desk.

Witnesses reportedly say the criminals were the same gang of four that had robbed patients of their cellphones, watches and cash on 16 March 2022, at the surgery.
Dr Koboka chased them in his car and managed to identify their car, a white Toyota Quantum without number plates, as they sped off towards Diepkloof hostel. The suspect was released soon after questioning.
The same group is alleged to have returned again on Friday, this time to finish off Dr George Kokoka.
Koboka was a member of the PAC and the party insisted that crime syndicates are handled with kid gloves by the government.
“They are growing into a public menace gone out of control, because public safety does not exist where it matters most – in places where criminals have a free hand.”
Gauteng police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said three suspects, aged 23, 28, and 33, were arrested a few hours after the doctor was gunned down, and they are expected to appear at Magistrates’ Court in due course, facing charges of murder.
“The arrested suspects might be linked with the business robbery that happened at the same surgery on the 16 March 2022 where cellphones and cash were taken from the patients and employees.”Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo
