Police ‘attacked with poo’ during noise complaint call in Joburg

Police in Douglasdale, Johannesburg, were allegedly assaulted by a woman while attending to a noise complaint.

Police officers who attended to a noise complaint in Douglasdale, Johannesburg, were attacked by a woman who excreted in front of them. The suspect was arrested, and has since been released on bail, the police confirmed on Friday, 9 June.

Douglasdale incident captured on video

A video of the incident went viral on social media recently. The South African Police Service (SAPS) said it took place on 3 May.

“…the police were called to a complaint of disturbance of peace (loud noise), and upon arrival the lady in question was rude to the point where she even slapped one of the officers,” said Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.

In the video, the woman defecates in front of the police, while handcuffed. She also attempted to rub the poop onto them.

Woman faces multiple charges

A case of common assault, crimen injuria and indecent exposure has been opened against her, while a case of malicious damage to property was added as she allegedly damaged a neighbour’s bakkie.

“It is disheartening to see police members being treated with such disrespect and humiliation while performing their duties. I am urging the public to please work together with the police to fight one enemy, which is crime,” said Gauteng police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela.
