Communities are being placed at high risk as SEVERE weather, and heavy rains batter many parts of the country

The heavy weather and rains continue to wreak havoc across the country, causing untold damages such as submerged vehicles, trapped homeowners on roofs, collapsed walls, and decimated shacks and houses.
In response, disaster management teams have been placed on high alert.

Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, warns communities to exercise caution as heavy rains persist across the country.
The National Disaster Management Center (NDMC) coordinates with provincial and local disaster management centers and all relevant parties to monitor the situation and provide ongoing support.
The heavy rains have caused flooding in many areas, overflowing rivers, loss of property, and damage to infrastructure such as roads and bridges.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) reports that the ground in some areas is already saturated.
This makes it imperative for communities to be extra vigilant, especially in areas known to be prone to flooding.
SAWS continues to monitor weather and climate conditions and urges the public to follow its updates and warning messages.

Zuma calls on communities nationwide to assist those impacted by the flooding, particularly those who have lost homes and are displaced.
Donations of basic necessities are encouraged, and communities are encouraged to work with municipalities and affected communities to provide aid.
