More suspects arrested for the murder of young Roedtan farmer

The young farmer was hit with an iron pipe before he was disarmed and shot dead in his farm in Roedtan, Limpopo recently.

Police have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the farm attack that claimed the life of a young farmer that took place at Roedtan in Limpopo on 7 October 2022.

The suspects were arrested at different locations in Moletjie outside Seshego als in Limpopo. 

SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR MURDER OF YOUNG FARMER 

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), a 34-year-old male suspect was apprehended at Ga-Chokwe village and his accomplice aged 44 was nabbed at Mmotong wa Perekisi, Ga-Mokgokong village under Seshego policing area.

As previously reported, five suspects entered the farmhouse at Derde Kraal house under Roedtan policing area pretending to buy milk. They found the farmer’s friend who was forcibly taken into the farm house and guarded by one of the  suspects.

The farm owner, in the company of his girlfriend, unknowingly arrived at the premises coming from the local town and were accosted by the remaining four suspects who pointed them with firearms. They took firearms, cellphones, a laptop and other valuables. The 36-year-old farmer, Janse van Rensburg was in the process disarmed and shot dead.

SAPS spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said one of the suspects, Albert  Mangena aged 33, was arrested at Moletjie outside Seshego the next day on Saturday 8 October 2022 and had already appeared in court on Monday 10 October 2022. He was remanded in custody until 24 October 2022.

The latest two suspects appeared at the Mookgophong Magistrate Court on Friday 14 October 2022 and the hunt for the remaining two suspects is continuing.

Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the investigating team for the arrests and further appealed to community members to assist the police by providing information on the remaining suspects.
