Deputy President, David Mabuza said on Saturday, that land reform is aimed at economic growth and continues to support farmers. Mabuza was addressing a crowd, at the 2019 Mpumalanga Show at the Mbombela Stadium.

David Mabuza: The tourism sector plays a key role

“Our agriculture continues to be a pivotal part of our economy. Our forestry gives us timber that supports other sectors like mining, rail and road construction, housing construction, furniture manufacturing, paper and pulp, ecotourism, and all other opportunities of an agricultural nature,”

The role of tourism in the sector is linked to the agriculture aspect, as the fauna and flora perfectly complement the wildlife in the Kruger National Park, and this landscape in the province ushers in foreign nationals and domestic tourists.

“That is why the protection of our wildlife and the environment should always be of primary concern and importance to ensure that sustainable growth of this sector is achieved. He further stated that the agriculture landscape in the province also contributes to employment opportunities. The government would continue to drive projects aimed at the diversification of the economy so that capabilities such as skills development, localisation, job opportunities were strengthened with a key focus.

The annual show is scheduled to drive economic growth to the province

The Mpumalanga show is set to create a platform for the sustainable growth of these economic sectors, and this is planned through the grooming of these sectors to reach its full economic potential.

“Our unity in diversity must be felt during the show, and not just be words or slogans. The people of this province must embrace this, and make it one of the signature events that will continue to draw people from around the country and neighbouring countries. Let’s join hands in building our country and make it a better place to live in.”
