The DA proposes that the online system be improved to be transparent and fair,” says Khume Ramulifho MPL – DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Education.

The DA said last year, the Gauteng Department of Education opened online admissions applications for schools from 22 July to 19 February 2022.

DA SAYS SCHOOL ONLINE APPLICATIONS MUST OPEN IN APRIL

Khume says many parents have complained about the school’s online admissions system over the last few years. Parents are often not offered their schools of choice by the online admissions applications systems.

“The department must embark on an education awareness campaign so that all parents can only know how to apply online. It will also assist parents and guardians who do not have access to the internet or a computer,” says Khume Ramulifho.

DA SAYS TO PLACE LEARNERS IN SEPTEMBER

Tamulfifo says the earlier the Gauteng school admissions process starts, the better.

“This will allow for proper planning on the part of the department and parents. Once the system closes in June, learners should be placed by July.”
