Criminals pretend to be patients to rob Cape Town doctor’s surgery

A Cape Town doctors surgery room was targetted by criminals this week. There was no rushing in from the get-go, these men decided to pretend to be patients.

Cape Town surgery targetted by criminals

Police are now on the hunt for two suspects after they allegedly robbed the doctor after ending their act. The two suspects entered the surgery of Dr Ayesha Rahbeeni in Grassy Park, Cape Town on Thursday afternoon.

The two explained that they were sick before threatening the female doctor and her assistant. The criminals the tied them up. The doctor, her assistant and two other patients in the waiting area were all robbed of their cellphones, cash and personal belongings.

News of the robbery quickly began making waves on social media as residents were furious with criminals being brazen enough to target a surgery.

One man wrote: “Wow if you cannot even go to a doctor when * are sick without been feared of crimes that can happen.”

“Unwanted elements like these don’t belong on this earth and should be disposed of permanently [sic].”

This woman was the most frustrated, though.

“Now things are really getting out of hand look where the pigs are going at the doctor. Where’s the army?” Gwen originally said in Afrikaans.

IOL spoke to police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana who confirmed that the suspects are wanted for business robbery. They are still on the run.

“According to reports, two men entered the surgery and pose as patients. They threatened the doctor and the assistant with a firearm and tied them up before robbing them and two patients of cash, cellphones and valuables.”

Grassy Park residents have been encouraged to utilise the SAPS reward system if they have any knowledge about the men.
