South Africa recorded 8 411 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has said on Saturday.
This brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 814 014.
This increase of 8 411 new COVID-19 cases represents a 15.5 % positivity rate.
A further 418 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 83 343 to date.
“The cumulative number of recoveries is 2 586 646.”
KwaZulu-Natal is still in the lead with the majority of new cases: 2 525 (30%), followed by Western Cape with 1 726 new cases (21%), the Eastern Cape with 1 302 (15%), and then Gauteng with 539 new cases (6%) provinces.
