Cops BUSTED fraudster for misleading job seekers

Police arrested a woman who had been on the run since 2017 for fraud and theft.

The Polokwane police finally arrested a suspect on the run since 2017 for fraud and theft after she misled unsuspected job seekers into making them believe she could help them acquire nursing qualifications.

THE SUSPECT RAN A BOGUS NURSING COLLEGE

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the 54-year-old suspect faces fraud and theft charges.

The suspect allegedly ran bogus nursing colleges and fraudulently registered unsuspecting students under the pretext that they were to acquire a diploma in nursing.

THE SUSPECT IS ARRESTED FOR FRAUD AND THEFT

The victims were also assured of employment across the Polokwane Province upon completion of their studies. The suspect’s fraudulent dealings were unmasked when it was discovered that the colleges were not authentic.

“The students immediately opened cases of fraud and theft under false pretenses against the woman in Polokwane, Morebeng, Thohoyandou, Waterval, and other places in Gauteng Province. The suspect had been on the run since 2017 after she fled to Nigeria,” says Mojapelo.

SHE WAS ARRESTED AS AT THE OR TAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The breakthrough was made on Saturday, 10 March 2023, when detectives from Makhado received information about the wanted suspect returning to South Africa from Nigeria.

The police received information that she would be arriving at OR Tambo International Airport at midday. The members pounced on the suspect soon after she arrived and arrested her on the spot for fraud and theft.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the members for arresting the suspect.
