The City of Cape Town has some better load shedding news for its customers over the upcoming long weekend.

While Eskom grapples with the bombshell news that its CEO Andre de Ruyter has resigned, the City of Cape Town has some better load shedding news for its customers over the upcoming long weekend.

At the time of publishing, there has been no change to Eskom’s load shedding plan of rolling 24-hour Stage 5 blackouts.

Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town has updated it’s schedule until next Monday morning.

City of Cape Town customers are, at the time of publishing, on Stage 4 load shedding which will continue until 22:00 on Wednesday.
Stage 5 will kick in 22:00 and continue until 06:00 on Thursday.
Following that, Stage 3 will be in effect on Thursday between 06:00 and 22:00, after which Stage 4 will be in place until 06:00 on Friday.
Friday, which is the start of the long weekend, will see Stage 2 load shedding from 06:00 until 22:00, followed by Stage 3 until 06:00 on Saturday.
Saturday will start with Stage 1 between 06:00 and midday, followed by Stage 2 from 12:00 to 06:00 on Sunday.
Sunday will see Stage 3 kick in at 06:00 and run until 06:00 on Monday.
However, the City of Cape Town did point out that the above schedule would be the case if Eskom’s current plan did not change.
