Centane court hands man 25 years for sexually assaulting minor
A 47-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Centane Regional Court for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

A 47-year-old suspect was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by the Centane Regional Court in the Eastern Cape on 5 May for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

Centane Regional Court hands down sentence
Zukile Siqwana assaulted the young victim in the Mpentse sub-locality of Nxokwana Location, Centane. The crime was reported to the police, and he was immediately arrested.

He made his first court appearance in the Centane Magistrate’s Court on 14 February 2022, and the case would later be transferred to the Regional Court for trial, where he would be found guilty, convicted and sentenced.

District commissioner welcomes sentence
The Amathole District police commissioner, Major General Ngangema Xakavu, welcomed the sentencing.
Xakavu also praised the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Mncekeleli Mazula, for the swift arrest and for helping to ensure justice was served for the victim.
