The City of Cape Town has reminded residents to comment on the proposals for the upgrade to Voortrekker Road before 15 September.

The City of Cape Town (CoCT) has urged the public to comment on proposals to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety on Voortrekker Road.
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility Councillor Rob Quintas said they intend to upgrade a section of Voortrekker Road in Maitland and Kensington. Quintas said that the upgrades form part of the City’s Congestion Relief Programme.
Voortrekker Road is an important road between the eastern and western suburbs. It connects people from Kuils River and Bellville with Parow, Goodwood, Epping and Observatory.
Quintas said the 1964 road scheme was reviewed and that he is now encouraging the public to comment on the proposed upgrades that form part of their new concept design.

Quintas added that if all goes to plan, the City intends to start the construction work by 2025.
The project is quite a large one and therefore the upgrade will be implemented in phases. The City says that public commenting on the upgrade of Voortrekker Road is an important aspect.
