Three critically injured in Durban restaurant shooting

Three people were critically injured when armed robbers reportedly entered a restaurant in Durban North and started shooting at patrons.

Six people were injured with three suffering critical injuries in a restaurant shooting incident on Browns Drift Road in Umgeni Park, Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal.

The incident happened on Thursday night, 30 March 2023.

SIX INJURED IN DURBAN NORTH RESTAURANT SHOOTING

According to emergency service, Netcare 911, reports indicate that an unknown number of armed robbers entered a restaurant and opened fire on patrons. When medics arrived on scene, they found that three people had been shot and another three injured while trying to hide from the gunfire.

Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst said on scene with Netcare 911 was Emer-G-Med paramedics, Greenwood Park SAPS and Marshall Security.

Herbst said the three patients that had sustained multiple gunshot wounds throughout their bodies were found to have sustained critical injuries.

“The other three patients who had injured themselves, had sustained minor to moderate injuries,” he said.

ALL PATIENTS TREATED ON SCENE

All the patients were reportedly treated on scene by Emergency Care Practitioners, and once stabilised were transported by ambulance to hospital for further care.

Circumstances leading up to the shooting will be investigated by the relevant authorities.

Herbs added that the details subject to change as more information becomes available.
