Members of the police from Piet Retief made a major breakthrough when they arrested a man in possession of two rhino horns.

POLICE ARRESTED A MAN WITH RHINO HORNS

 The 27-year-old Ntsako Prince Letswele’s arrest came after the public brought important information about his alleged dodgy dealings to the South African Police.

Letswele was arrested on Thursday, 09 March 2023, around 09:00.

According to the information, a white Nissan Qashqai was travelling on the R534, Wakkerstroom Road, and a certain man was driving it.

Further details outlined that the vehicle had Gauteng registration number plates and that the car was transporting some rhino horns.

POLICE DISCOVERED THE HORNS HIDDEN IN THE BONNET

The police followed up on the information, and the vehicle was spotted as it approached Piet Retief city business district.

 The vehicle was stopped, and police discovered the rhino horns hidden inside the bonnet and arrested the suspect. The rhino horns were black plastic bags.

Letswele appeared at the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court on Friday. He will be back in court on Tuesday, 14 March 2023.

The Acting Mpumalanga Commissioner, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, expressed gratitude and appreciation for the manner in which community members support the police with information regarding crime and appreciation to the community for providing the information.

Mhkwanazi also praised the police for their swift response, which resulted in the suspect’s arrest and the rhino horn’s recovery.
