The victim of an alleged racial incident at Stellenbosch University has broken his silence on the matter, and told the media what he believes will be a fair punishment for the student who urinated on his belongings.

Babalo Ndwayana has become an unwitting part of a sordid story, after another Stellies student – Thenus du Toit – was filmed weeing on the books, notes, and laptop belonging to his dorm-mate. He is also accused of making racist comments while carrying out this disgusting act.
The video exploded into the public realm on Sunday, and by Monday afternoon, de Toit had been suspended from the institution. However, protesters showing their support for Ndwayana have demanded that criminal charges are filed against the Stellenbosch piss-taker.
Babalo’s father also wants his son to press charges – but the youngster showed immeasurable dignity in explaining why he would not go down this route. He stated that du Toit ‘is also someone’s child’:
“My father said I must lay criminal charges, but I said to him it’s already enough now. He’s also someone’s child. I am still processing this incident, but I am getting there. I have to keep moving, even though my privacy was violated.”

‘He should be expelled, not prosecuted’
However, though not vengeful, Babalo Ndwayana DOES want the perp to face some form of justice. He has called for du Toit’s permanent expulsion from Stellenbosch University, claiming that it would be ‘the fairest result for everyone’.
“He violated my dignity. I don’t know him particularly well, he is a friend of my roommate. We only spoke briefly before. I think for now, I would like to see him expelled. That’s fair for everyone. My notes and are damaged, and my laptop is now slow as a result of this incident.”
“I have not seen his video apology – he has come to me personally, but it was a very brief apology. I really appreciate the support I’ve had so far, and I’d like to tell everyone I am grateful for their messages.”
