Zuma backed by diamond dealer ‘with R100m frozen by the state’

Jacob Zuma has received some very high-profile support on Monday – but Louis Liebenberg’s backing is arguably the most controversial.

Have we found Jacob Zuma’s biggest fan? Louis Liebenberg has made an appearance at the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, as Msholozi fights a decision to overturn his medical parole from prison. Indeed, it’s not the first time the pair have put on a united front this year.

Jacob Zuma in bid to reinstate medical parole

Back in April, Liebenberg gifted two Nguni cattle to Zuma, at his residence in Nkandla. The intimate meeting showed just how close the former president has gotten to this alleged ‘illegal diamond trader’ – who previously had R100 million in assets frozen by the state.

The DA have also sent a delegation to Free State, and John Steenhuisen insists that Mr. Zuma was the beneficiary of ‘special treatment’. However, focusing on the matter in hand, Louis Liebenberg was optimistic that his friend would succeed in his appeal:

“He told me to finance these operations and ensure that the funding that has been cut off for Zuma must come back. God will bless Zuma once more. We can see when Ramaphosa walks in the street, the people are not with him. The only people that still stand with him are people in fear.”

“We are not people of fear, we are people of God. The ANC has to reform, we understand that, but that cannot be done under Ramaphosa. He bows his knee to the UK and America. But I am here, I have Khoi and San within me.” | Louis Liebenberg

Who exactly is Louis Liebenberg?

He’s a high-profile businessman, who has been active in the mining, gold, and diamond industries. However, a number of accusers have labelled Liebenberg as a ‘conman’. Several Facebook groups have been set up, allegedly exposing the Northern Cape resident as a fraud.

It’s believed Zuma’s friend has been part of several Ponzi schemes, which have illegally taken money from investors. Louis Liebenberg has always fought to clear his name, but in an interview with Carte Blanche a couple of years ago, he made a stunning admission to the investigative team.

He plainly stated to the team that he DID dabble in illegal activities – and the footage can be seen here.
