Several sources have confirmed that Albert Fritz, who was subjected to a mystery suspension from the DA on Sunday night, is now facing allegations of sexual assault from younger colleagues in his office.
Fritz serves as the leader of the DA of the Western Cape, and he’s also an MEC for community safety. Therefore, these allegations will cut to the core of local government, which has been rocked by the accusations.
Alan Winde, the provincial premier, did not initially reveal why Albert Fritz had been suspended by the party. The reasons behind the disciplinary action were only revealed on Monday morning. The MEC will now step aside from his duties, in order to confront the allegations made against him.
Winde didn’t acknowledge suggestions that his office ‘was already aware of the allegations’, and instead, only posted a brief and cryptic statement on the matter yesterday.
“Serious allegations pertaining to the conduct of Albert Fritz have been brought to my attention. I have summoned the minister and informed him of the allegations and my decision to suspend him with immediate effect, which he has accepted. A full investigation must proceed, on an unhindered basis.”

Fritz is likely to be off work until at least the end of February 2022, but what happens between now and then is anyone’s guess. The claims made against the senior politician are extremely serious.
It’s understood that some of the younger employees working on his team have been the victims of his alleged advances, with more than one accusation of sexual assault being raised. We are awaiting statements from all of Albert Fritz, the DA, and the Western Cape Government, in order to clarify the remaining details.
