A number of petrol stations in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) are reportedly without fuel and some running out of it. Long lines of cars waiting to fill have been spotted in parts of the province.

Bayhead is completely closed as it has collapsed as a strategic route for the movement of cargo coming in and out of the province and fuel depots.

M7 which is the route used by trucks from Bayhead is also experiencing some failure so there is currently mop up work to clear the debris.

MAJOR OIL COMPANIES SUSPEND OPERATIONS

Operations Director at the PTA Group Kay Chetty said due to the extensive damage to infrastructure in KZN, Major Oil Companies have suspended all operations.

“Bayhead Road being the main access to all the Fuel Depots has been closed due to a large section being washed away. Due to this, we have had to suspend all deliveries until we are able to start loading product out of the fuel depots in stand view again. We will keep you informed of progress made in restoring supply.”
