After the travel nightmares caused by COVID-19 restrictions, South Africa’s aviation industry took a brutal beating. However, FlySafair has spectacularly managed to buck the trend. On Monday, it was confirmed that the domestic airline had added 11 new flights to its roster.

FlySafair now flying to 11 new destinations

The additional destinations span from the biggest city in Kenya, to a brand new domestic flight connecting Johannesburg and Bloemfontein. the Air Services Licensing Council of South Africa (ASLC) approved the operational application earlier today, allowing FlySafair to spread its wings.

In total, there will be six new destinations that can be reached from both Cape Town and Johannesburg. A further five flights will be exclusive to just one airport. Flights to Joburg-Harare, Windhoek-Zanzibar, and SA-Mauritius are still awaiting final approval, though.

Where is FlySafair flying to?

Where the likes of SAA, Mango, SA Express have failed, FlySafair has flourished. Famous for its cheap flight giveaways (who could forget the R8 ticket madness from earlier this year?) and its ‘on-time performance’, South Africans have made the most of this remaining airline.

FlySafair remain in a buoyant mood following the approval for these new flight destinations, and they’ve vowed to ‘keep growing’ their route maps. The Joburg-Bloem service is also likely to be a gamechanger for many SA citizens, too.

“Our route map just keeps growing! With 120 daily flights to all major cities in South Africa, and now between Johannesburg and Bloemfontein too – and let’s not forget Mauritius – your options on where to go are endless.”

“So, whether you want to catch some sun at the sea, spot some game in the bush, live it up in the city or just simply need to visit the family – pick a spot, book a flight, and start exploring today.” | FlySafair
