Police in Gauteng are offering a cash reward of R50 000 to anyone that can provide them with useful information about the missing schoolgirl Amahle Thabethe – who disappeared in 2019.
It has been almost three years to the day since the girl, who was aged eight at the time of her disappearance, was last seen. Thabethe was allegedly snatched by an unknown male suspect while playing with her friends.
However, no body has ever been found, and there has yet to be a positive identification in this case. SAPS are hoping that this new cash incentive will bring forward a number of witnesses who can help revive the investigation.
“Amalhe Thabethe was eight years old when reported missing at Tsakane police station in April 2019. It is alleged that she was playing on the street with other children when an unknown man approached them, asking for directions. Thabethe volunteered to show the man the house he was looking for – that was the last time she was seen.”
“At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a blue and white t-shirt, black jeans with pockets printed with hearts. A task team has since been formed to investigate and has followed up on any information received.”
