Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya addressed the media on Sunday afternoon, 5 March. He confirmed Cyril Ramaphosa suffered from a cold this week but denied it resulted in a delay in the cabinet reshuffle.

RAMAPHOSA TO SHUFFLE CABINET

Magwenya said Ramaphosa suffered from a ‘minor’ common cold this week. He said there was never a confirmed date set for the cabinet reshuffle.

According to media reports, Ramaphosa was due to announce the changes to his cabinet on Thursday but decided against it at the last minute.

Magwenya also addressed Ramaphosa’s appearance at an ankole cow auction dinner on Friday, 3 March.

The spokesperson said Ramaphosa’s appearance at the Ntaba Nyoni dinner was pencilled in well in advance. The president reportedly stopped by the dinner to greet guests. However, he did not attend the auction itself on Saturday because he needed to rest due to his illness.

Magwenya also set a firm date for the cabinet reshuffle. He said Ramaphosa would announce the changes to his cabinet at 19:00 on Monday, 6 February.
