Some disillusioned members of society argue that they have to take a lot of sh*t from politicians in South Africa – and it looks like a few of them are now giving it back. Shock footage reaching us from Kimberley, NC, shows the moment protesters threw SEWAGE over an ANC councillor’s home.

From poor delivery to poo delivery: Kimberley residents stage dirty protest

The clip, believed to have first been shared online on Saturday 9 July, shows about half-a-dozen gatvol locals approaching the modest dwelling. Armed with buckets of thick, murky liquid, they begin to throw the substance over the house – leaving it to marinate in the winter sun.

Urine, feces, and other undesirable matter is understood to have been used in this ‘dirty protest’ – some of which forced one occupant to take cover inside. Several people wearing gloves and masks take it upon themselves to throw the sewage buckets, spraying the front of the property.

It’s alleged that a dispute over service delivery in Ward 29 of Kimberley led to these unsavoury scenes. Denied their basic essentials, residents of this suburb decided to take the low road, ensuring that their anger will be felt – and smelt – for a long time to come.

Kimberley sewage protest: Mayor McKenzie turns spotlight on politicians

Gayton McKenzie is the newly-elected Mayor of the Central Karoo. Rather than chastise the protesters, he has actually sided with them, arguing that ‘they have waited long enough’ for proper service delivery. The Patriotic Alliance leader also challenged his fellow politicians to ‘do better’.

“People are tired. This happened at the house of an ANC councillor in Ward 29 in Kimberley, Northern Cape. People want services and they want them delivered now. They have waited very long. We must do better as politicians.”
