“When medics arrived on the scene, they found a light aircraft that had sustained substantial damage after it was alleged the plane hit wires.”
Herbst said a man and a woman sustained serious injuries and were treated on scene by paramedics.
“Once stabilised the man was flown by Netcare 911 helicopter to a specialist facility.

Meanwhile, a woman in her 30s sustained critical injuries earlier on Sunday.
She had to be airlifted to hospital after a store’s roof inside a Krugersdorp mall collapsed on top of her.
ER24 ambulance services spokesperson Ross Campbell said the incident happened around 12:00.
“ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 12:12 along with GPG, Mogale Traffic, the Fire Department, and ER24’s Rescue One, who helped extract the trapped woman from the brick and rubble.”
Campbell said once the woman was extracted, she was treated with Advanced Life Support interventions.
“The woman was flown by another private service’s Medical Helicopter to the hospital for further care.”
He said it is unknown as to why the roof collapsed, but as stated, the Fire Department was on the scene for further investigations.
