Teenager shot in the head and killed in Cape Town shooting

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the head and killed while a man with him on Wednesday was shot and injured.

SHOOTING HAPPENED ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

Netcare911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst said the shooting happened at 15:57 on Wednesday.

“Paramedics responded to a shooting near Silversands Road in Delft, Cape Town.”

He said reports from the scene indicate that both the teenager and other man had sustained gunshot wounds to their heads.

“On scene with Netcare 911 was Metro EMS and Life Paramedics.”

“Paramedics assessed both patients and found that the teenager had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.

“The second male had sustained critical injuries and was treated and stabilised on the scene before being transported by ambulance to a hospital for further care.

“Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the relevant authorities.”

Meanwhile, in another unrelated shooting in Cape Town, an elderly construction worker was shot and injured while he was enjoying his lunch at a construction site in Cape Town on Wednesday afternoon.

THE MAN WAS SITTING IN THE CAB OF THE EARTHMOVING EQUIPMENT

Herbst said the shooting happened at 13:00 on Wednesday.

“At 13H03 Wednesday afternoon, paramedics responded to a shooting at a construction site in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town.”

Herbst said reports from the scene indicate that the man was shot once in the upper abdomen by a low calibre weapon.

” It is believed the elderly man was on his lunch break sitting in the cab of earthmoving equipment when the incident occurred.”

Herbst furthermore said the man who had sustained serious injuries was treated and stabilised on scene.

“Due to the nature of the patient’s injuries a Netcare 911 helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the man to hospital.”
