After being implicated in the latest installment of the State Capture Commission‘s report, former Eskom CEO Matshela Koko did not hold back, having some strong words for Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.

The Presidency released the fourth part of the report, which focused on grand corruption at Eskom, National Treasury and that scandalous R1 billion housing project which failed to get off the ground in the Free State.

The Commission has heard how Eskom was essentially used as a cash cow for the controversial Gupta family, partially thanks to former president Jacob Zuma and several other key figues – including Koko and Brian Molefe, who at one point, was also CEO at the embattled parastatal. In his report, Zondo found that Koko and ex-Eskom CFO Anoj Singh were involved in a scheme that saw the Gupta-owned Tegeta Exploration and Resources unduly receive hundreds of millions of rands from the utility.

Zondo has recommended that Koko and Singh be charged with corruption and that Eskom recover lost monies from its former executives.

“Molefe, Singh and Koko all benefited from the Guptas and Essa in various forms. This may constitute the criminal offence of corruption … it is recommended the law enforcement agencies conduct such further investigation with a view to the possible criminal prosecution of the implicated parties by the NPA for their part in facilitating the fraud, corruption and financial misconduct against Eskom and the state”

Taking to Twitter, Matshela Koko criticised Chief Justice Raymond Zondo for not even bothering to read his affidavit, in response to the legions of allegations at Eskom. Koko reckons that Zondo has set up the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to fail and has lost his marbles.

“Zondo made me to appear before him 9 times. He read & quotes from all the affidavits that implicated me. He has no shame to write in his report that he did not read my affidavit He nevertheless he makes adverse findings against me,” Koko said on the social media platform.

Koko has denied the claim that he and other executives like Molefe and Singh were Gupta stooges who collapsed Eskom to benefit the controversial family.
