SASSA: Will the R350 grant be paid early as social grants too?
SASSA announced that from April 2022, social grants will now be paid earlier, but does this also apply to the R350 SRD grant?

This week, the South African Security Agency (SASSA) announced that from April onwards social grants would be paid from the second day of the month. Where does this leave the R350 SRD grant beneficiaries?
SASSA SOCIAL GRANTS TO BE PAID EARLIER
On Tuesday, 22 March SASSA said it heard beneficiaries’ cries about the previous payment schedule and decided to make a change.
“If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take place on the following work day.
“We would like to thank all of you for your cooperation and support during the challenging times we have experienced.”

Grants payments will now start earlier but they will continue in the same order. Older person and the associated grants will be paid first followed by disability grants and child grants.
In the past, the first week of the month was reserved for the aforementioned grants before the SASSA started paying out the Covid-19 social relief of distress (SRD) R350 grant for the month.
WILL THE SRD GRANT BE PAID EARLY TOO?
SASSA has cleared the confusion created by the early payment dates of other social grants.
SASSA said the new payment dates for social grants do not include the R350 social relief of distress (SRD) grant.
“These changes are for the normal social grants, not the special Covid-19 SRD grant.”

The Shoprite Group also recently announced that beneficiaries can now collect their SASSA R350 SRD grant at any of their 1286 stores countrywide.
This includes Checkers, USave and selected OK Food stores.
Here are the payment dates for the remaining days in March:
- 28 March: 082 & 087
- 29 March: 083 & 088
- 30 March: 084 & 089
- 31 March: 080 & 085
- 01 April : 081 & 086
