Reeva Steenkamp’s parents don’t think Oscar Pistorius is truly remorseful about killing their daughter and say they’re still hoping for the whole truth as to what really happened on that fateful Valentine’s Day in 2013.

June and Barry Steenkamp did an interview with the United Kingdon’s breakfast news programme Good Morning Britain last month – and they’re definitely not holding anything back.

REMINDER: Pistorius shot his then girlfriend, Steenkamp several times while she was in the bathroom behind a locked door at his Pretoria home in the wee hours of 14 February 2013. He maintains that he thought he was shooting at an intruder who had climbed in through the bathroom window. Pistorius was first convicted of culpable homicide in 2014. He initially received a five-year prison sentence as a result. The matter was then taken to the Supreme Court of Appeal. The court then overturned the High Court’s verdict and convicted him of murder.

REEVA STEENKAMP’S PARENTS TO OSCAR: ‘SORRY IS NOT ENOUGH’

Oscar Pistorius’ parole process has reportedly started, but June, Reeva Steenkamp’s mother reckons that the paralympian must serve his full sentence. It was recently reported that Pistorius was moved from the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Facility in Pretoria to the St Albans Correctional Centre in Gqeberha as part of a process aimed at allowing him to engage the Steenkamps.

“Sorry is not enough for losing her life. She was wonderful and her whole future was ahead of her. He took everything away from her and us. But I forgave him. I forgave him through God. God asked me to forgive him but that doesn’t mean he must not pay for what he has done,”

Steenkamp’s mother went on to tell the UK TV programme that she thought Pistorius will only show remorse if it contributes to his getting out of jail.

“We don’t have the full story. He changed his mind three times under oath”, she said.

The Department of Correctional Services had confirmed earlier this month that Pistorius’ parole process is underway, but had been delayed by logistical difficulties. These difficulties relate to Pistorius being jailed in Gauteng, while the Steenkamp’s live in another province.
