39-hour water shutdown in Gauteng – THESE areas are affected
The 39-hour planned water shutdown by Rand Water which starts on Thursday will affect most areas in Joburg and Midrand.

Rand Water has scheduled a planned 39.5-hour water shutdown of its H12 pipeline from 31 March to 1 April 2022 which will affect parts of Gauteng.
The project is reportedly aimed at tying-in of a 5,2 km x 1700mm section of the newly constructed H39 pipeline which has been constructed to augment a portion of the H12 pipeline.
2-DAY WATER SHUTDOWN IN GAUTENG
Rand Water said the new pipeline is laid along the route adjacent to the existing H12 Pipeline within the Rand Water registered servitude at the point of the tie in.
The project will take place in Glen Austin Midrand, inside the Randjesfontein Estate.
“The execution of the project will require that the existing H12 Pipeline be shut down on Thursday 31 March 2022 (from 07h00) until 1 April 2022 (10h30). Rand Water has formally informed the affected customer, Johannesburg Water (JW) by issuing the 21-day notice in order to allow JW to plan appropriately and put contingency measures in place.
“Rand Water has further advised JW to fill its reservoirs before the actual shutdown commences. The North-Western areas and Randjesfontein will likely be affected by the execution of the project. The reduction of approximately 50% in water supply may be expected during this period.”
Rand Water also said the system is expected to fully recover in two to three days after the H12 Pipeline has been re-commissioned.
Consumers were cautioned to use water sparingly and apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused.”
