Blimey, it’s all kicked off on Twitter. EFF MP Naledi Chirwa launched a verbal assault on Cyril Ramaphosa today – dividing opinions online.

Naledi Chirwa is no stranger to a venomous critique – and her latest tirade against Cyril Ramaphosa might be one of her most vicious. The EFF MP ripped into the president, branding him a ‘weak little boy’ on Monday.

The declaration has split social media users, and it’s certainly got tongues wagging. Naledi Chirwa became a top trending topic on Twitter, after accusing the head of state of ‘throwing tantrums’ during his time in office:

  • Naledi Chirwa, however, found herself on the end of a fairly substantial backlash soon afterwards…

Disrespectful, or deserved? Chirwa criticism divides opinion

It has been four years since Cyril Ramaphosa assumed the presidency, replacing Jacob Zuma in the process. Since then, his premiership has received mixed reviews – and the ANC is now in a perilous position.

Factional battles, poor election results, and major cash crisis within the party makes 2022 a ‘do or die year’ for the 110-year-old organisation. With an Elective Conference coming up in December, all eyes will be on Ramaphosa.

  • However, some observers won’t exactly be rooting for Cyril…

“Ramaphosa is not my father. I give respect to those who earn it. Definitely not murderers. I have zero respect for the man and will never pretend to. There’s a lot of things I respect, but a man who killed Marikana miners is not one of them.”

“There isn’t a single thing the man has done that can ever warrant respect. He lies, kills, steals. Just because he has an honorable title doesn’t mean he is. Youth unemployment will continue mounting up while you’re respecting a man who respects no one but Stellenbosch mafias. The man is a stooge!”
