President Ramaphosa is struggling to catch a break as it stands. The ANC leader has seemingly been caught-out by the ‘Farmgate’ case, which is now moving at a rapid pace – and Cyril could soon receive a dressing-down from the Hawks.

Fraser, Farmgate, and felonies…

As one of SA’s top crime-fighting agencies, having the Hawks on your back – regardless of your standing in society – is a huge deal. Investigators met with Arthur Fraser on Wednesday, after the long-time Zuma ally filed criminal charges against the president earlier this month.

  • The meeting took place this morning, on Wednesday 15 June
  • Hawks sat down with Fraser, so the former SSA chief could ‘assist them’ in investigating Cyril Ramaphosa
  • Fraser is understood to have ‘furnished the Hawks’ with additional information about the Farmgate case

What is Farmgate all about?

Fraser submitted a treasure trove of evidence to the police two weeks ago, documenting an alleged crime which took place at Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo. Burglars targeted the property back in 2020, only to come across an enormous stash of cash.

Around $4 million was found hidden in the house, but when thieves made off with the money, Ramaphosa never actually reported the crime to the police – sparking accusations of a ‘cover-up’ at the farm.

Why are the Hawks investigating Cyril Ramaphosa?

Both a failure to inform police about a criminal offence, and the concealment of a huge amount of foreign currency, could put Ramaphosa on the path towards legal retribution – and Arthur Fraser is keen to help pile-on the misery for SA’s current head of state:

“Arthur Fraser has met with the Hawks in order to assist them with their investigation into President Cyril Ramaphosa. He has furnished the Hawks with additional information and details, to enable them to do their work. The Hawks have responded quickly to the complaint.”
