Pretoria man jumps to his death at Menlyn Maine

A man in Pretoria is believed to have committed suicide by jumping to his death at the Menlyn Maine Residence on Thursday, 13 April 2023.

Rekord has cited  Menlyn Maine Investment Holdings (Proprietary) Limited as saying support systems and counselling have been organised at the facility for residents and visitors who may have been left traumatised by the incident.

MENLYN MAINE DEATH TO BE PROBED

According to the publication, Pretoria authorities have opened an inquest docket into the man’s suspected suicide. According to Menlyn Maine Investment Holdings (Proprietary) Limited, emergency services workers were called to the scene after staff at the facility realised the man was in distress. At this stage, details surrounding the incident remain sketchy.

 ANOTHER MYSTERY FALL AT MENLYN

The latest incident comes just eight months after another man also jumped to his death at Menlyn Mall, which is in the same vicinity as Menlyn Maine.

According to a statement provided to local media at the time, the deceased is a 29-year-old male. It’s understood he plummeted from ‘at least’ the fourth floor. General Manager Nisha Kemraj confirmed that an official police investigation is already underway at Menlyn Mall.

“We are currently not sure if he was pushed or jumped. However, police are on scene busy with investigations. An official investigation is underway. Also, Menlyn Park is fully cooperating with authorities as they investigate the circumstances around the incident,” Kemraj said at the time.

Just some weeks before that incident, a man aged 31 also tumbled to his death inside Menlyn Mall. In a macabre twist, the victim landed next to a children’s play area. He was rushed to hospital, only to be pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
