Former African National Congress (ANC) president Jacob Zuma does not want his successor, Cyril Ramaphosa to be let off the hook at the party’s upcoming elective conference in December and wants him brought to book over the robbery on his Phala Phala farm.

Zuma delivered the OR Tambo Memorial Lecture in Durban on Sunday, 6 November 2022, when he made the remarks. As the ANC elective conference draws nearer, Zuma is becoming more vocal about certain members of the party, especially Ramaphosa.

“It may be useful to explain what had happened to our organisation to have so many members of the NEC deciding to contest for only one position. Two contesting comrades have been nominated within the framework of the ANC. These were Nkosazana-Dlamini Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa. Then an additional five candidates emerged from nowhere,” Zuma said.

ZUMA LAUNCHES ANOTHER ATTACK ON RAMAPHOSA

Jacob Zuma has once again accused President Cyril Ramaphosa of buying votes at the previous ANC elective conference in December 2017 and urged delegates to choose carefully when its to cast their votes.

“There are clear allegations made that Cyril Ramaphosa who contesting the presidency used a lot of money to buy the positions as the president of the ANC. When these allegations were made, the figure was put at a billion, and at the Zondo commission, Ramaphosa openly admitted that he used the money to buy the position but said it was just over R300 million,” Zuma said.

When Ramaphosa appeared at the State Capture Commission, he denied buying votes and said the money generated from his CR17 campaign were donations which kept it running.

In addition, Zuma has encouraged delegates to ask Ramaphosa about the robbery on his Phala Phala farm and also questioned why he hadn’t been arrested, as he had clearly committed a crime.

“The delegates of the branch must go and ask tough questions. They must ask Ramaphosa how he differs from ordinary members of the ANC. They must ask him why he is not arrested as you were found in possession of money under the bed? Perhaps the police are afraid to act against him because he is the employer. He must tell us the place called Phala-Phala, what was the money found on the farm doing there.”
