LOOK: Paul Mashatile’s ALLEGED ex-girlfriend lashes out at him

Barely a week after being sworn in as South Africa’s new Deputy President, Paul Mashatile could soon find himself at the centre of a scandal surrounding his personal life. Screenshots showing Whatsapp messages between a woman and someone purported to be Mashatile have been shared on Twitter and the contents are rather interesting.

ARE THE TEXTS REALLY PAUL MASHATILE?

It isn’t clear if the texts are indeed between the deputy president and a former girlfriend. In the Whatsapp messages, the woman accuses the recipient of lying about her and accusing her of trying to extort them.

“Why are you lying about names while I’ve tried so much to protect you. You’ll curse the you allowed your friends to control … People are calling me that you’ve wrote an article about me trying to extort money from after breaking up. Well I’ve invited them tonight to clarify the matter with facts and evidence,” the texts read in part.

PAUL MASHATILE IS GETTING MARRIED

City Press first reported this past weekend that Paul Mashatile is engaged to Humile Mjongile and sent a delegation to Humile’s family home in Ekurhuleni over the weekend to pay lobola.

Mashatile’s spokesperson, Keith Khoza, confirmed the lobola negotiations and added that there was a traditional wedding celebration over two days. The spokesperson told City Press that members of the media were not invited because these private events are normally “the first step.”

Mashatile and Mjongile will reportedly have a wedding with guests later this year. The now-deputy president’s wife, Manzi Ellen, died a week after his mother’s funeral in 2020.
