Woman SEVERELY injured after pitbull attack

A woman sustained severe injuries when she was attacked by a pitbull at an estate in Cape Town on Thursday

Emergency services responded to a call for medical assistance after a woman was attacked by a pitbull at Penhill Estate in Cape Town on Thursday, 19 January.

Woman seriously injured after attack

Titanium Securitas Medical Response responded to the scene after receiving a call for assistance at around 16:00.

When the medical team arrived, they discovered the patient was in serious condition.

She had multiple bites all over her body.

Unfortunately, she suffered gruesome injuries, including having her skin ripped off her head.

The patient was stabilised on the scene and required advanced life support intervention.

When the patient was stable, she was taken to a nearby hospital for immediate care.

Petition to ban pitbulls

After the spate of pitbull attacks in 2022, a petition was launched to ban pitbulls in South Africa.

The call to ban pit bulls in the sountry comes as there countries either banned or restricted the breed’s ownership or importation:

  • Russia
  • Finland
  • Denmark
  • United Kingdom
  • Portugal
  • Parts of Germany
  • Parts of China
  • Parts of Brazil,
  • Parts of Australia

To date, 138,442 people have signed the petition.
