Every year, WhatsApp discontinues support for some devices that are considered obsolete. After 31 December, the Meta-owned messaging platform will no longer be available on over 40 smartphones, including two older iPhones.
As new features are added to the platform, some older, out-of-date phones will lose WhatsApp support.
Some of these devices include Android phones from Samsung, Huawei, and other manufacturers, as well as some Apple iPhone models.
Users will need to update to iOS 12 and Android 4.1 or later to continue using WhatsApp on their devices.
These phones are quite old, and the majority of them are incompatible with newer operating systems.
When WhatsApp discontinues support for these devices, the messaging service will cease to function on them.
Stopping these services will ensure that all WhatsApp users are using the most up-to-date version of the app, which includes enhanced privacy and security features.
