Mike Bolhuis’ Specialised Security Services confirmed that the missing Luschka Taljaard and her son, Daniel, who went missing in Hendrina on 5 January have been found.

They were found late Friday evening, 6 January.  

Hendrina mother and son found traumatised

Taljaard and her son were found after 22:00 on Friday evening at a garage in Pretoria Central.

She initially contacted her husband and provided him with her location details, Taljaard and her son were extremely traumatised.

The Specialised Security Services task team took Taljaard and her son to the Unitas Hospital for a thorough medical examination.

They have since been reunited with their family and trauma councelling is being arranged for them.

Andre Snyman from eblockwatch lambasted messages on social media that were said to have belittled the Hendrina mother and asked that members of the public send words of love and support instead.

Eblockwatch also mobilised FidelityADT to meet with Taljaard at the filling station in Pretoria on Friday night.

A thorough investigation into the case will be conducted.

WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO REPORTING A MISSING PERSON?

When someone goes missing, it is essential to take steps and start the investigation into the missing person’s case immediately, there is no waiting period.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) shares how to report a missing persons case.

  • If possible, provide a recent photograph of the person.
  • Give a detailed description of the missing person’s last known location, clothing, and any other information that can help the investigating officer.
  • Fill out and sign a SAPS 55(A) form. This form protects the SAPS from false reports and authorises the SAPS to distribute the missing person’s photograph and information.
  • Obtain the contact information for the investigating officer and send any additional information that becomes available.
  • If a person is discovered or returns voluntarily, notify the investigating officer right away.
