Two men arrested after women are KIDNAPPED while working

Two men were arrested eight days after the kidnapping of two business women, they were arrested after withdrawing money from their accounts

Two men appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court on 1 December on charges of kidnapping after two women were kidnapped while driving.

Victims kidnapped while making deliveries

Siviwe Sidwell, 37, and Nulgisha Fodomafuneka, 48, appeared in court after they allegedly kidnapped two women.

Two South African citizens were reportedly abducted on 21 November as they were driving through Mandela Park.

The two victims are said to be owners of a hair extension company (weaves), and on the day of the event, they were distributing to customers.

According to reports, the kidnappers called the victim’s sister on her cellphone and wanted a ransom of R400 000.

After negotiating with the kidnappers, the family agreed to pay an amount of R30 000.

The kidnappers instructed the family to pay the money via Capitec bank’s cash send. The payments were made on 28 November.

Kidnappers confronted by police after making cash withdrawals

On 29 November, eight days after the kidnapping, the suspects are said to have begun withdrawing money from a Capitec ATM in Zevenwacht.

The investigating multi-disciplinary team, including  the Bellville Hawks, Crime Intelligence, and the Provincial team, tracked the movements of the identified the alleged vehicle used by the kidnappers.

Following the cash withdrawals, the kidnappers were confronted by police while walking towards their vehicle and arrested.

A black VW Polo, as well as a cellphone and cash, were seized.

On 1 December, information was received that the hostages had managed to escape.

They ran towards Monwabisi beach, where they managed to call their family and the investigating team to rescue them.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The case was remanded to 13 December 2022 for formal bail application.
