Stage 4 load shedding until Monday

Eskom announced late on Saturday night, 3 December, that stage 4 load shedding would be implemented with immediate effect.

This is set to continue until 5:00 on Monday, 5 December.

Safety tips during load shedding

With the increase in load shedding, there is usually also an increase in opportunistic crimes.

Have a look at the following safety tips:

  • Before the power goes out, make sure you’ve tested your alarm system. To accomplish this, schedule a testing session with your security service provider to ensure that they are receiving alarm signals even when the power is turned off.
  • Buy a backup battery that can be connected to your alarm system to provide extra power.
  • When the power goes out, place battery-powered spotlights in strategic locations to maintain visibility. When the main power goes out, these can be connected to the power supply.
  • Light up suspicious areas of your garden with a torch.
  • Stay vigilant – criminals will use power outages to conceal their activities during an outage.
  • Make sure your gate battery is functioning properly – a flat gate battery can put you at risk outside your home.
