SASSA has called on all beneficiaries whose cards expire to fetch new cards from Monday, but can you still use your card after it expires?

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) have called on all social grants recipients using the SASSA/Postbank Cards that are due to expire in March 2023 to collect their new cards at their nearest Post Office branch.
The collection of new cards will commence on Monday, 13 March 2023.

Can you still use your SASSA card after in expired?
In January 2023, SASSA released a statement that the gold payment card remains valid despite the expiry date.
Beneficiaries can use the card in Postbank, ATMs, and merchants, or provide their private bank accounts to SASSA.
Beneficiaries are, however, encouraged to fetch their new cards from Monday, 13 March.

PEOPLE WITH SASSA CARDS EXPIRING IN MARCH NEED TO COLLECT NEW CARDS
Only people with SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards expiring in March 2023 are required to collect new cards at the South African Post Office.
Social grants recipients carrying cards that are not due to expire in March are discouraged from attempting to collect new cards at the Post Office during this month.

Recipients whose cards expire in further months need not worry as SASSA and Postbank will issue a public announcement regarding the dates and processes for the collection of their new cards.
CERTAIN DAYS DEDICATED FOR RECIPIENTS
To ensure a smooth and efficient process, Mondays and Tuesdays, starting from Monday, 13 March 2023, will be dedicated to the issuance of the cards to the Old Age Grants recipients and persons that receive Disability Grants.
From Wednesday to Saturday, starting from Wednesday, 15 March, the collection of new SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards will be dedicated to recipients whose cards expire in March 2023 at any Post Offices branch nationwide by persons receiving Child Support Grants and persons receiving all other grants.
