Just in: KZN head-on collision leave nine injured

Nine people were injured on Friday afternoon when two vehicles collided head-on collision on Jabu Ngcobo Drive near Waterloo, KZN.

Paramedics were called out to a head-on collision on Friday afternoon on Jabu Ngcobo Drive near Waterloo, KZN. Nine people were injured in the accident.


According to Reaction Unit SA spokesperson Prem Balram the accident happened around 16:21.

“Nine people were injured in a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Jabu Ngcobo Drive near Waterloo, KZN this afternoon on Friday.”

Balram said they received multiple calls from the public requesting assistance for the injured.

“RUSA Members arrived on scene at approximately 16:21 and found a white VW Polo and a white Toyota Hiace taxi involved in the crash.”

Two occupants of the VW Polo and seven individuals from the mini taxi sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“The injured were treated on scene by paramedics from RUSA and Netcare 911 before being transported to a hospital.”

Balram said both vehicles were extensively damaged.


Meanwhile, earlier on Friday morning, a man was killed after being ejected from his car in a single-vehicle accident on the M27 in Tea Estate, Inanda.

“A passerby contacted RUSA at approximately 07:31 requesting assistance after they noticed the wreckage on the side of the road.

“Reaction Officers and RUSA paramedics were dispatched to the scene and on arrival noticed a man lying several meters away from a grey Volvo S40.”

Balram said the vehicle has Gauteng registration plates.

He furthermore said the 42-year-old was found to have suffered life-threatening injuries and died before the arrival of First Responders.

“Circumstances leading up to the accident have not been confirmed; however, it is believed that the man lost control of his vehicle, which left the road before it overturned several times.”

The man was ejected in the process.
