BRAKPAN DETECTIVE ARRESTED BY IPID

IPID arrested a Brakpan detective who allegedly assaulted his wife in an unrelated incident. The suspect was already out on bail for previously beating her.

The Directorate helped the victim open a second case against the man and said the information would be used to revoke his bail.

As previously reported, the husband was arrested and released on bail on 2 August 2022. IPID said the victim attempted to withdraw the case, but the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) informed her that GBV and femicide cases couldn’t be withdrawn.
